U.S. Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas, alongside Senators Pete Ricketts and Deb Fischer from Nebraska and John Cornyn from Texas, has introduced a resolution to designate May 2025 as Beef Month in the United States.

Senator Marshall expressed his appreciation for the contributions of American cattle producers, stating, “Thanks to the work of America’s cattle producers, nothing compares to our nation’s beef.” He highlighted the importance of beef in both the economy and diets, noting Kansas’s significant role as a red meat-producing state. “As the third-largest red meat-producing state in the nation, hundreds of Kansas communities are built on the cattle industry,” he added.

Senator Ricketts emphasized Nebraska’s leadership in beef production: “Nebraska is the beef state. Last year, we led the nation with over $2 billion in beef exports. We lead the nation in commercial cattle slaughter, with 6.8 million head.” He acknowledged Nebraska’s ranchers for their contribution to feeding people worldwide and noted that cattle and beef production inject billions into the economy annually.

Senator Fischer also underscored Nebraska’s prominence in beef production: “Nebraska is the beef state – and we’re proud of it.” She thanked Senator Ricketts for spearheading this resolution which aims to officially recognize May as National Beef Month.

Senator Cornyn recognized Texas ranchers’ pivotal role: “Texas ranchers are the backbone of America’s beef supply,” highlighting their often unacknowledged hard work. He expressed pride in joining his colleagues to support this initiative recognizing May as National Beef Month.

The full text of the resolution is available for public viewing online.
