U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas) appeared on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report to discuss several legislative initiatives, including the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. This bill aims to reintroduce whole milk into schools, a move the Senator believes is crucial for children’s health.
Marshall expressed personal ties to the dairy industry, citing his father’s experience on a dairy farm. He emphasized milk’s nutritional value and warned of potential long-term health issues due to its absence in schools: “Because of that, we have a generation of young adults now whose bones will never reach their peak mass.”
Regarding the bill’s progress, Marshall noted it could advance through unanimous consent in the Senate if no objections arise. He hopes for similar support in the House to expedite its delivery to President Trump’s desk.
The Senator also addressed the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission report, underscoring goals aligned with nutritious food access and soil health. “Healthy soil means healthy food,” he stated, advocating for regenerative agriculture practices like no-till farming and precision agriculture.
Marshall commented on President Trump’s ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill,’ acknowledging potential challenges despite Republican majority support: “Well, there’s always hurdles.” The bill aims to address agricultural reference prices and make certain business tax provisions permanent, which he argues are vital for farmers’ financial stability.
