U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. of Kansas announced on May 5 that he joined Senator Pete Ricketts of Nebraska in introducing a resolution to designate May 2026 as National Beef Month and recognize the contributions of American cattle producers.
The resolution aims to highlight the role cattlemen play in feeding the country. Kansas is noted for ranking third nationally with nearly six million cattle, generating $11.7 billion and employing over 38,000 people across ranches and feedyards in the state.
“Growing up a 5th-generation farm kid, I know firsthand that nobody raises better beef than Kansas,” said Senator Marshall. “Our ranchers work hard to provide delicious, nutritious beef to American families. I’m proud to celebrate them this month.”
Marshall has a background rooted in agriculture; he grew up as a fifth-generation farm kid and was the first in his family to pursue higher education by earning degrees from Butler County Community College, Kansas State University, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine, according to the official website. He also served seven years in the U.S. Army Reserves and chairs subcommittees on conservation, forestry, natural resources and biotechnology within agriculture as well as primary health and retirement security within health committees.
Marshall’s office provides services such as military academy nominations, assistance with federal agencies, American flag requests, internships and tour arrangements for Kansas residents according to the official website.
The broader impact of this resolution may include increased recognition for cattle producers throughout Kansas and nationwide during National Beef Month.
