U.S. Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas appeared on Fox Business’s Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald to discuss concerns regarding Representative Ilhan Omar’s financial status and what he described as hypocrisy within the Democratic Party.

Addressing Rep. Omar’s reported increase in net worth, Marshall stated: “Well, Liz, again, here’s a person who comes to Congress, and in 2019, she has no assets. She actually has a negative net worth. Now here we are, five, six years later, she’s worth up to $30 million. Think about this. How can people make money in Congress? But her husband started a venture capital company about three years ago. He claims to have $60 billion under management, $60 billion for a three-year-old company. Of course, they specialize in ESG, in cannabis, and in African countries as well. So, it just doesn’t add up to the American people.”

Marshall also criticized what he called hypocrisy within the Democratic Party regarding taxation and campaign finances: “So, I just would point out that 20% of Americans are paying at least 80% of the taxes in this country. Look, and we were happy to do that. We want this country to be successful. We want to share but also, but we worked hard to earn that money for the most part as well. But this is a person that will never practice what she preaches. One more point. She funneled $3 million of her campaign money into her husband’s consulting company as well. So, there’s some smoke there. There may be fire.”

Discussing legislative efforts aimed at supporting working Americans and small businesses through tax relief measures contained in recent legislation championed by Republicans, Marshall said: “You know, I’m excited, though. Our One Big, Beautiful Bill helps out small businesses, that helps out those hard-working men and women as well. So very proud of what we did to even lower the taxes even more for hard-working Americans.”

On broader political trends within the Democratic Party under President Joe Biden’s administration and its shift toward socialist policies according to Marshall: “Yeah, I think we saw under Joe Biden is as the government got more socialistic, that they have a solution to every one of your problems, is the people did worse. And what I see, people, the ones that are leaving the Democrat Party, are pretty much libertarians, are just looking for a better life now, and hopefully we’re giving that under the American Dream.”
