U.S. Senator Roger Marshall expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for approving Kansas’ request for a Major Disaster Declaration. This decision will enable the release of federal resources to aid communities in Kansas affected by severe winter storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and wildfires that occurred from March 14 to March 19, 2025.

Senator Marshall had previously led a letter from Republican members of the Kansas federal delegation urging President Trump to approve the state’s request for assistance. In his statement, Senator Marshall acknowledged the swift response from President Trump and his team: “I can’t thank President Trump and his team enough for swiftly stepping up for Kansans in a time of great need,” he said. He added that local governments and utility providers would now have access to federal resources to address the storm’s aftermath. “To all those impacted, please know my office and I stand ready to assist in any way we can.”

The counties eligible for public assistance include Barton, Chautauqua, Edwards, Elk, Ellis, Gove, Graham, Gray, Greeley, Hodgeman, Jewell, Lincoln, Logan, Ness, Norton, Osborne, Pawnee, Phillips, Rice, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Stafford, Wallace and Woodson.
