U.S. Senator Roger Marshall recently toured a series of businesses, universities, and community organizations across Northeast Kansas as part of his ongoing 100-stop August tour. The visits aimed to engage with local residents and observe efforts to improve communities in the region.
Marshall’s itinerary included stops at the Dairy Farmers of America headquarters in Kansas City, where he participated in an agriculture workforce roundtable. He then traveled to Wamego to meet with staff at Tribeca Biosciences, learning about their research into new manufacturing processes for biologic and small molecule pharmaceutical ingredients using wheat germ cell-free expression systems.
At Kansas State University in Manhattan, Marshall met with educational leaders at the Nuclear Program Facility. The university will resume its nuclear engineering program this fall for both undergraduate and graduate students. The nuclear reactor facility is expected to support academic programs, research, industrial services, and outreach initiatives for students.
Marshall also visited the Kansas State Football Practice Facility alongside Athletic Director Gene Taylor. They discussed Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives affecting college sports and reviewed preparations for the team’s opening game against Iowa State in Ireland.
During his stop at Manhattan Area Tech College, Marshall toured new facilities and learned about expanded engineering programs available for the 2025 school year. He highlighted benefits for technical colleges from provisions included in a recently passed reconciliation bill.
In Junction City, Marshall visited the YMCA Day Camp and Summer Food Program. The Junction City YMCA is one of ten YMCAs serving approximately 507,000 Kansans statewide. It provides child programming and operates a summer food initiative funded by the USDA.
Marshall concluded his tour by meeting with board members of the Geary County Food Pantry. The organization celebrated the grand opening of its new facility on July 28 and has served food-insecure individuals and families in Junction City since 1989.
