U.S. Representative Sharice Davids, who serves Kansas’s 3rd district, addressed several issues affecting her constituents in a series of posts on October 7, 2025. Davids, a member of Congress since 2019, highlighted concerns ranging from aviation safety and government shutdowns to international conflict and the cost of living.
In her first post of the day, Davids emphasized the importance of a stable aviation system and expressed support for legislation aimed at protecting air traffic controllers and other Federal Aviation Administration employees during government shutdowns. She wrote, “Kansans rely on a safe and reliable aviation system. D.C. political gridlock cannot put that at risk.
I’m backing new legislation to ensure air traffic controllers and other FAA employees can do their jobs — and get paid — during a government shutdown.” (October 7, 2025).
Later, Davids reflected on the anniversary of the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, calling for remembrance of the victims and advocating for an end to civilian suffering in the region. She stated, “Two years after Hamas’ horrific October 7 attack on Israel, we remember the innocent lives lost and those still held hostage.
We must end this war’s devastating toll on civilians across the region and work toward lasting peace and security for all.” (October 7, 2025).
Addressing economic challenges faced by Kansans, Davids referenced her personal background and ongoing efforts to reduce grocery costs. In her third post, she said, “Kansans are already working multiple jobs to make ends meet — just like my mom did.
That’s why I’m fighting to lower grocery costs by cracking down on corporate price gouging that’s driving up prices.” (October 7, 2025).
Davids, who was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park, has represented Kansas’s 3rd district since defeating Kevin Yoder in 2019. She holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a JD from Cornell University.
