Rep. Sharice Davids, who represents Kansas’ 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several key issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on social media.

On August 28, 2025, Davids marked an important moment in American history by stating, “Today marks the anniversary of the March on Washington — a turning point moment in the U.S. Civil Rights movement. Let’s honor that legacy and continue the work toward ensuring the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is a reality for all Americans.”

Later that evening, she highlighted her commitment to healthcare access following an event with Little Lobbyists: “Had a chance to spend the evening with @LittleLobbyists celebrating the life-changing impacts of Medicaid! It was inspiring to hear firsthand how important it is to protect these services — and I won’t stop fighting to protect Medicare and Medicaid for Kansas families.” This underscores ongoing debates about federal healthcare programs and their significance for local communities.

On August 29, 2025, Davids drew attention to staffing issues at a federal agency during severe weather season: “This summer, funding freezes and budget cuts eliminated crucial National Weather Service jobs during severe weather season — a reckless decision that put Kansas families in danger. I demanded answers, and hundreds of NWS jobs have now been restored.”

Sharice Davids has served as Kansas’s 3rd District representative since 2019 after succeeding Kevin Yoder. She was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park. Davids holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2007) and earned her JD from Cornell University in 2010.
