Rep. Sharice Davids, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Kansas’ 3rd district since 2019, addressed the recent government shutdown in a series of social media posts, emphasizing her willingness to work across party lines and offering resources for those affected.

On September 30, 2025, Davids stated: “A government shutdown is entirely avoidable. I’m ready to work with anyone, in either party, on a real bipartisan compromise to keep our government open.”

Following the onset of the shutdown, she posted on October 1: “My statement on the consequential government shutdown.” In a subsequent message posted at the same time, Davids provided constituents with information and support: “Folks can visit https://t.co/EnP9ZApFyh for helpful resources or to share their stories. My team is ready to help however we can.”

Sharice Davids has represented Kansas’s 3rd District since defeating Kevin Yoder in 2019. She was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park. Davids holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a JD from Cornell University.
