Rep. Sharice Davids, U.S. Congresswoman representing Kansas’ 3rd district since 2019, posted a series of messages on her official X account addressing the impact of a government shutdown on service members and federal workers, as well as marking the anniversary of the Clean Water Act.
On October 17, 2025, Davids expressed concern for military personnel amid ongoing budget uncertainty in Washington: “I’m grateful our service members were paid this week — but their next paycheck is in jeopardy because of this shutdown. I’m backing legislation to make sure those who risk their lives for us always get paid, no matter Washington’s dysfunction.”
Later that day, she highlighted the challenges faced by federal employees in Kansas City during the shutdown: “KC federal workers don’t know when their next paycheck’s coming — but many are still showing up to serve. I’m working across the aisle to end this shutdown and make sure they get the pay and respect they deserve.” (October 17, 2025)
On October 18, 2025, Davids commemorated over five decades since passage of a major environmental law: “52 years ago, the Clean Water Act became law — protecting the water we drink, farm, and play in. Thanks to that legacy AND new investments from the bipartisan infrastructure law, KS communities are replacing aging pipes, cleaning up rivers, and keeping our water safe for”
Sharice Davids has represented Kansas’s 3rd District in Congress since succeeding Kevin Yoder in 2019. She was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park. Davids holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2007) and a JD from Cornell University (2010).
