Rep. Sharice Davids, U.S. Congresswoman representing Kansas’ 3rd district since 2019, addressed several pressing issues affecting Kansans in a series of recent posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On October 14, 2025, Davids highlighted the impact of Medicaid cuts on rural communities, stating, “Rural hospitals are closing and families are losing care because of extreme Medicaid cuts. These attacks hurt entire communities. I’m working to protect rural health care and lower costs for every Kansan.”
The following day, October 15, she drew attention to the challenges faced by federal employees in the Kansas City region due to disruptions in paychecks: “This week, thousands of federal employees in the KC region will be going without their full paychecks — and my team and I are still here to help. If you’re in need of assistance, visit https://t.co/EnP9ZAp7IJ for information on available resources.”
On October 16, Davids reported conversations with furloughed federal workers and reflected on her personal experience growing up in a military family: “I spoke with furloughed federal workers today who are worried about missing paychecks — and I get it. When my mom served in the Army, one missed paycheck could’ve meant no lights or no dinner. Kansans shouldn’t be caught in D.C. politics. It’s time to reopen the government.”
Davids was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007 and later earned a JD from Cornell University in 2010.
