Sharice Davids, a U.S. Congress member representing Kansas’ 3rd District since 2019, recently addressed various issues concerning both the local community and federal programs. In a series of tweets, she expressed concerns about recent budget cuts affecting key sectors in Kansas.

On April 17, 2025, she tweeted about the impact of “recent federal cuts to successful programs that connect Kansas farmers with local schools”. Davids indicated that these budgetary reductions are adversely impacting the agricultural market and compromising healthy food availability for students. She disclosed her active engagement with leaders in agriculture and education to discuss strategies to safeguard these crucial programs.

The following day, on April 18, 2025, Davids emphasized the importance of the Head Start program, stating: “Head Start helps kids thrive — no matter their background.” Her tweet highlighted concerns over funding cuts threatening this initiative, underscoring her visit to a Head Start program in Olathe to discuss the significance of continued investment in family-supporting services in Kansas.

Later on the same day, her engagement with community leaders was further exemplified through a discussion with local authorities and the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. In an April 18, 2025 tweet, she noted a “great convo with local leaders and @kcchamber about what’s ahead for our region.” The conversation covered topics from protecting federal jobs to preparations for the upcoming World Cup.

Sharice Davids, at 42, was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and resides in Roeland Park. Her educational background includes a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007 and a JD from Cornell University in 2010.
