After falling behind, 1-0, in the first seven minutes, the Baker men's soccer team picked up two goals in the second half to defeat Graceland on Saturday, 2-1.
Baker was able to control the game throughout, taking 21 total shots, with five coming from Falco Dijhkuis and seven different players taking at least two shots. Baker's defense also held the Yellowjackets to just six shots, while Christian Villegas made two saves in the 90 minutes.
Graceland struck first, scoring on their first shot of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Baker took a total of nine shots in the first half, but could not score as the Wildcats went into halftime trailing, 1-0.
Just less than 20 minutes into the second half, Baker was able to get on the board as Daniel Jakobe found Falco Dijkhuis as Baker tied the game at one. Dijkhuis then scored his second goal of the game in the 78th minute and gave Baker a strong 2-1 lead, which they would hold for the rest of the game.
Baker is now 6-5-2 and 4-2-1 in Heart of America play. They will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they take on Culver-Stockton at 7:30 p.m., in Baldwin City.
