The Kansas Christian women's volleyball team earned their first win of the season, as they took down Union College 3-1 on Tuesday night.
The Falcons earned the win behind season high kill totals from Layla Dixon and Latresa Saunders who each finished with 10 kills in the win. Daria Korovina had a season high 23 assists. She also had nine service aces. Three Falcons tallied double digit dig totals. Larencea Doles led the team with 13, Dixon had 11, and Korovina had 10 digs. Sidnee Bergquist, Layne Shipley, and Dixon each had two block assists, and Dixon added two solo blocks.
After dropping the first set of the match, the Falcons rattled off three set victories in a row. A lopsided second set went to the Falcons 25-8. The third set was the turning point in the match as the Falcons held off Union for a 26-24 set win putting them in position to win the match. The Falcons took care of business in the fourth set with a 25-19 win.
The volleyball team now has a week before their next match when they host Spurgeon College in Cowen Memorial Auditorium at 7pm on Tuesday, October 18.
