October is Head Start Awareness Month

Olathe Head Start is celebrating Head Start Awareness Month by reaching out to the program’s former students who will graduate from high school in 2023. The federally funded preschool program for income-eligible families has three locations in Olathe Public Schools: Black Bob Elementary, Harmony Early Childhood Center and Heartland Early Childhood Center.

Children must be at least 3 years old by Aug. 31 of the current school year to participate in Head Start. Olathe Head Start also serves children with special needs who live within the boundaries of these school districts: Olathe, Gardner-Edgerton, DeSoto, Spring Hill or Blue Valley.

Any current high school senior who attended Olathe Head Start is encouraged to email Kathy Hess at khesshlc@olatheschools.org so the program can celebrate them as well.

More information about Olathe Head Start is available on the early childhood website.
