JCCC women’s basketball posts one of the top scoring games in team history in 125-33 win

The No. 4-ranked Johnson County women's basketball shot a season-best 67 percent Saturday afternoon, making 52-of-78 shot attempts, enroute to a 125-33 blowout over Saint Mary JV. The 125 points scored are the third most in a game in team history and 92-point margin is the second largest ever recorded.

Seven players finished in double figures scoring, including four of the five starters. The team also set season highs in assists with 28 and steals with 25. 

Sophomore guard Aryanna Harrison was the top scorer with 21, one shy of her career high mark. She was 9-of-12 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free throw line. She also tallied four rebounds and three assists. 

Sophomore guards Nariyah Simmons and Mackenzie Hart followed with 17 and 16 points respectively. Simmons also had six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Hart finished with five boards, three assists and three steals.

The others finishing in double figures were sophomore center Nyayien Koang (12 points), sophomore guard Janaya Washington (12 points), sophomore guard Lisa Thomas (10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and freshman guard Jazzy Klinge (10 points).

Freshman guard Saige Grampsas also had a key performance finishing with seven points, a team-high eight assists and five steals which tied for the team lead. 

Johnson County will close out the first half of the season on Wednesday, December 14 in Miami, Fla., when they take on Miami Dade College. They return to action on Thursday, January 5 when they host Metropolitan.
