Johnson County Government continues today to respond to the winter storm, by treating county roads. Although most departments are operating as normal, some programs remain impacted by the weather.

Public Works crews are currently working 12-hour shifts. Day shift crews started at 6:30 a.m. Crews are continuing to clear roads in the unincorporated parts of the county.

Winds and very cold temperatures continue to affect road conditions. Temperatures are too low for treatments to effectively melt snow; roads could be slick throughout the evening.

It is recommended drivers stay home if they can. Roads will be monitored, along with the weather forecasts. Crews will continue to work 12-hour shifts until streets are clear.

Johnson County Facilities grounds crews are addressing snow removal throughout the day at Johnson County buildings.

Johnson County Emergency Management, a division of Johnson County Emergency Services, continues to work closely with the National Weather Service to stay up to date on conditions. Emergency Management is meeting regularly with Johnson County leaders to keep them informed as they make decisions about weather-related impacts to programs, services and facilities.
