Johnson County Small Business Recovery Grant Applications Open

The Enterprise Center in Johnson County (ECJC) announced that Johnson County small businesses, including childcare facilities, will be able to apply for a Johnson County Small Business Recovery grant on February 8, 2023, starting at 10:00 AM (CST) at ecjc.com/grant. The program offers qualified recipients a one-time $20,000 grant to offset revenue losses of 25% or greater incurred from 2019 through 2021 due to COVID-19.

ECJC was previously selected by the Johnson County Government to be the lead agency to distribute grant relief in 2021 and 2022. The grant program is designed to address the economic hardships that Johnson County small businesses experienced during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is open to all Johnson County small businesses (with at least one and no more than 50 full-time employees) who can verify significant revenue loss (of 25% or greater) during the period of January 2019 to December 2021.

The application will have two phases: 1) an online application and 2) an appointment with a small business counselor to review the verification documents and other requirements to receive the grant.

The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners approved the allocation of Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds received from the United States Department of the Treasury to fund direct community investment programs to address struggling small businesses, including diminishing childcare capacity within Johnson County.

“We’ve had many small business owners inquiring about the recently announced program and how to apply for the recovery grants,” says Jeff Shackelford, CEO, Enterprise Center in Johnson County. “Grants will be awarded to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. We want to ensure all Johnson County small business owners have a chance to hear about the program and be fully prepared to apply. We’re anticipating a high volume of applications, and I encourage small business owners to register for and attend one of the info sessions.”
