Become a Chiropractor. You’ll be in Position to Help Your Community

Not everyone understands the importance of giving back to your community, but you do. The truth is those who give back often receive benefits beyond what they’ve given. You’ll be happy to know you’ll be on track to accomplish that when you decide to become a chiropractor, giving you some impressive career advantages.

6 Reasons To Become A Chiropractor

1.    The benefits of chiropractic care are recognized in major medical journals, including Spine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Medical Care, and the Journal of the American Medical Association(JAMA).Evidence-based outcomes research continues to show the value of chiropractic care.

2.    The path to a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree encompasses at least 4,200 hours of class time, hands-on lab work, and learning patient care skills. You’ll also have extensive time in direct patient care in on-campus and community-based health clinics, working under the supervision of licensed doctors of chiropractic.

3.    Most chiropractic college students earn their Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degrees in a rigorous four-year curricular format. As students progress through school, they must pass a four-part set of exams conducted by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE).

4.    According to Salary.com, the median annual compensation for chiropractors with established practices ranges beyond $100,000 per year. Typically, this means salary plus bonuses, profit sharing, or both. Chiropractors usually work a 40-hour workweek and report high levels of job satisfaction.

5.    A recent U.S. News & World Report jobs survey showed that those who become a chiropractor are entering a profession listed among the top 20 healthcare job opportunities.

6.    More than 50% of chiropractors are owners or co-owners of their healthcare operation, allowing them to set their hours and establish how and where they practice. While most who become a chiropractor prefer a general practice, others choose to specialize.Examples include:

•

o    Sports Chiropractic

o    Pediatric Chiropractic

o    Animal Chiropractic

o    Chiropractic Radiologist

o    Chiropractic and Nutrition

o    Chiropractic and Acupuncture

Drs. Haase, Clausen: Service To Their Community

For chiropractors, it’s just as likely to have a rewarding career in a small town or rural community as in a big city. Back and neck pain, headache, and other ailments of musculoskeletal origin are as commonplace in offices, small family businesses, and high-tech as they are labor-intensive industries.

Dr. Whitney Haase was raised in the Omaha, Neb., area, and Dr. Nolan Clausen is from Ord, a small Nebraska town of just over 2,200 people. While in chiropractic college, they each realized a desire to return home to practice. Drs. Haase and Clausen opened their practice, Midwest Movement, in January 2020.

Learn more about their journey here.

“I was born and raised just a few miles from our practice,” Dr. Haase says. “I knew I wanted to be back somewhere in the Omaha metro, and Elkhorn seemed like a perfect small town.”

Dr. Clausen says he likes knowing that chiropractic healthcare is making a positive impact on people’s lives in the Elkhorn community. Seeing patients he’s treated, getting back to the jobs they love, or volunteering on the weekends, is the primary reason he decided to become a chiropractor.
