U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. recently expressed his concerns about President Joe Biden's handling of the Iran-backed attacks on U.S. Troops in an interview with The Bottom Line on Fox Business. Senator Marshall criticized Biden's approach, stating, "Once again Joe Biden has given us war through weakness… Once you lose your reputation you never get it back."
The Senator emphasized the need for a swift and strong response to the attacks, declaring, "We needed some type of response yesterday. Before we lose even more American troops." He also shed light on a troubling development, revealing, "Today as we speak, Iran has 500 ghost ships using flags from other nations to guise the oil from Russia that they’re selling to China."
In addition to holding Iran accountable, Senator Marshall called for action against any individual or entity that aids the Iranian regime, stating, "So we shouldn’t just punish Iran, we need to punish anybody that helps them." He further suggested that the United States should explore various avenues, including economic, military, and diplomatic measures, to address the situation.
The interview also touched upon President Biden's pledge to work with President Xi of China on fentanyl trafficking. Senator Marshall pointed out that the previous administration had successfully convinced China to stop shipping fentanyl. However, he highlighted a subsequent tactic used by China, stating, "And then what the Chinese did is start making the precursors and sending them through Mexico… So you’re absolutely right. If our enemies respected us, we could get them to stop doing things like this."
Senator Marshall emphasized the importance of leveraging trade and exploring different strategies to address the issue of fentanyl trafficking. However, he expressed doubts about President Biden's ability to effectively negotiate with China, stating, "We could use trade as leverage, there’s lots of things that we could do, but Joe Biden lost his reputation. He’s never getting it back."
Senator Marshall's remarks underscore the growing concerns among some lawmakers about the Biden administration's approach to foreign policy. The Senator's call for a strong response to Iran and his skepticism about the effectiveness of negotiations with China highlight the need for a robust and assertive approach in dealing with these challenges. As the U.S. faces ongoing threats and complex international issues, it remains to be seen how the Biden administration will navigate these critical matters.
