Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. has expressed his disappointment with the bipartisan Senate border bill, stating that it misses the mark in addressing the border crisis. In a statement released today, Senator Marshall highlighted the failure of the bill to compel the Biden Administration to change course or hold the President accountable.

Senator Marshall emphasized the urgency of securing the borders, stating, "Every American needs to understand that President Joe Biden has the power to secure our borders right now. He has chosen not to for over three years, creating the worst border crisis in history and our greatest, most immediate threat to our national security."

The Senator criticized the bill for its shortcomings, particularly in addressing asylum and parole abuse. He also raised concerns about the allocation of billions of taxpayer dollars to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that would potentially transport illegal migrants to various locations.

"I don't see anything in this bill that would secure the border," Senator Marshall stated. "It does not go far enough on asylum, makes Biden's parole abuse even worse, and supercharges NGOs with billions of taxpayer dollars to fly illegal migrants to an airport near you."

Despite voicing his disappointment, Senator Marshall acknowledged his hope for a solution throughout the legislative process. However, he concluded that this bill does not offer the necessary measures to address the border crisis effectively.

The emergency supplemental spending agreement, which Senator Marshall referred to, includes various provisions. Notably, it does not go far enough in addressing asylum and catch and release policies. Additionally, it grants President Biden the authority to suspend the border shutdown and does not allocate any new funds for a border wall.

Furthermore, Senator Marshall highlighted the disparity in funding between Ukraine and the United States for border security. The bill allocates $60 billion for Ukraine's war against Russia, including $350 million for Ukraine to secure its borders. However, no new funds are allocated for the United States to secure its own borders.

Senator Marshall, a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Accountability Committee, has been a staunch advocate for border security reforms. He supports the Secure the Border Act, which has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives and has a Senate companion.

In his statement, Senator Marshall made it clear that he believes this bill falls short of what is needed to effectively address the border crisis. He urged President Biden and the administration to take stronger action in securing the borders and protecting national security.
