U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. appeared on Varney & Co. on Fox Business to express his opposition to Joe Biden's border bill. He criticized the bill, stating, "This bill does not secure the border. All along the American people realize that Joe Biden's priority was funding Ukraine in this bill. This bill gives Joe Biden and Ukraine $60 billion, only $20 billion to secure the border. And really this does not accomplish much. It does not accomplish securing the border. It does very minimal to impact parole or asylum." Senator Marshall believed that the bill was merely a charade and stated, "Joe Biden was never serious about this bill. This was a charade."

Senator Marshall has consistently emphasized the importance of border security and its impact on the presidential election. He stated, "I've been saying for six months that this open border is the number one issue of this presidential election. Joe Biden could shut the border down yesterday if he wanted to. He has the legal authority. But again, he doesn't really care about border security. His priority is funding Ukraine. We need a new President who's going to secure the border."

In addition to discussing the border bill, Senator Marshall also addressed the upcoming Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee hearing on prescription drug costs. He highlighted the need to focus on the right entities when tackling high drug prices. He expressed his agreement with Senator Sanders that prescription drug prices are too high, but believed that the focus should be on Pharmacy Benefit Managers rather than Big Pharma. Senator Marshall stated, "The real problem are Pharmacy Benefit Managers, which grab about 50 to 75 cents of each dollar, and that's why we're working together, again complements to Senator Sanders, Senator Cassidy, on leading the way to go after Pharmacy Benefit Managers. They're the real culprit that's manipulating the problem."

Senator Marshall emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of Big Pharma in terms of innovative cures and cost savings. He provided an example of a hepatitis drug that, although expensive, saves millions of dollars by preventing the need for a liver transplant. He stated, "We need to think about the innovative cures that Big Pharma has given us and the cost savings they've done as well. Not only to keep people healthy, they keep people out of the hospital."

In conclusion, Senator Roger Marshall expressed his opposition to Joe Biden's border bill, stating that it fails to secure the border and is merely a charade. He also discussed the upcoming Senate HELP Committee hearing on prescription drug costs, emphasizing the need to address the issue of Pharmacy Benefit Managers rather than targeting Big Pharma. Senator Marshall's views shed light on the importance of border security and the complexities surrounding high drug prices.
