Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. stood with his GOP colleagues today in expressing his opposition to Joe Biden's border bill during a press conference. Senator Marshall emphasized that his goal and priority throughout the immigration debate has been to secure the border, while accusing President Biden of prioritizing funding for Ukraine over border security.
During his interview, Senator Marshall criticized the Supplemental Border Bill, stating, "Leaders set priorities, leaders set goals. I never negotiate with people that don't share the same goals that I have, that the people I represent have, if you will." He further argued, "This bill should really be called the Ukraine funding bill. And yes, Joe Biden's been going through this charade now for several months, but he was never serious about securing the border."
Senator Marshall and his colleagues highlighted the fact that President Biden could have taken immediate action to secure the border, but they believe this was not his true goal. "Joe Biden could secure the border yesterday. That was never his goal," Senator Marshall asserted. He added, "We would support a bill that actually secured the border. And though whatever folks are going to hear today, on their social media, on their news, the good news is that Americans figured this out already."
The issue of border security has become a significant concern for many Americans, with the number of illegal border crossings surging under the Biden administration. Senator Marshall pointed out the stark difference between President Biden's approach and that of former President Trump, stating, "Under Joe Biden, 10 million people have crossed the border illegally. President Trump averaged less than 1,000 people per day."
Looking ahead to the future, Senator Marshall expressed his confidence that the American public will have the opportunity to decide who will secure the border come November. He declared, "That's why come November we're going to have a new sheriff in town who's going to secure the border."
As the debate over immigration and border security continues, Senator Marshall and his GOP colleagues remain steadfast in their opposition to Joe Biden's Supplemental Border Bill. With a focus on securing the border and addressing the concerns of the American people, they are determined to bring about change in November.
