U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. has expressed his strong opposition to the Senate Leadership's decision to send an additional $60 billion to Ukraine as part of a $95 billion Foreign Aid Bill. This is the largest lump sum of money that has been sent to Ukraine since the war began over two years ago. Senator Marshall raises concerns about the lack of accountability and transparency regarding the previous $113 billion that the United States has already sent to Ukraine.

In a statement, Senator Marshall emphasized that his top priority is to secure the southern border, which he believes is the most immediate national security threat. He stated, "Kansans have told me time and time again to secure our border first and foremost. Keep our communities safe, cut off the spigot for the fentanyl coming in, and stop the cartels from setting up shop here in our state."

Senator Marshall criticized the timing of the decision, noting that it was made over Super Bowl weekend when Americans were enjoying one of their greatest traditions. He expressed his disappointment, saying, "This exercise just further highlights how out of touch Washington, D.C. truly is."

The Senator also questioned the motives behind the funding, stating, "It's never been about helping Israel or addressing the historic border crisis - it's always been about finding a vessel for more Ukraine funding." He emphasized that he cannot, in good conscience, send another blank check to Ukraine while the country is facing a border crisis and a historic national debt crisis.

Furthermore, Senator Marshall criticized the lack of seriousness in the Senate Leadership's border "efforts," describing them as a charade to secure more funding for Ukraine. He stated, "I've said all along that I was listening and hoping there would be a strong bipartisan border bill on the table; after weeks of negotiating behind closed doors, we were presented with a border bill that failed by almost every measure to actually secure our borders."

In conclusion, Senator Marshall firmly voted against sending $60 billion to Ukraine, highlighting the need to prioritize border security and address the pressing issues facing the United States. He believes that a nation without secure borders and burdened by crippling debt should not be allocating funds for foreign wars. The Senator's opposition to the funding reflects his commitment to representing the concerns and priorities of the people of Kansas.
