Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. released the following statement on President Biden’s new student loan forgiveness plan announced on April 8, 2024.
"In the America I grew up in, if you take out a loan, you pay it back, it’s that simple and is a fundamental principle of learning financial responsibility," Senator Marshall said.
Senator Marshall criticized President Biden's approach, stating, "Sadly, Joe Biden’s pursuit to saddle our blue-collar workers with the debts of Ivy League grads, elitists, and lawyers never ends." He further added, "This is nothing more than a political stunt that the Biden Administration believes will buy young people’s votes."
According to Senator Marshall, the primary motivation behind President Biden's plan is political gain rather than the welfare of the younger generation. "That is what this all comes down to for him – the next election, not the well-being of the next generation."
