Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. has sent a letter to Janet Yellen, Secretary of the Department of the Treasury, and Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense, raising concerns about the planned construction of a battery material facility, CNANO, in Johnson County, Kansas. The facility has extensive ties to a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) company, prompting Senator Marshall to demand answers regarding potential security risks.
In the letter addressed to the Administration, Senator Marshall expressed gratitude for the response received in March regarding his previous concerns and requested an expert assessment of the security threats posed by the CCP-linked facility. He specifically emphasized the importance of evaluating the impact on American military installations such as Fort Leavenworth, Whiteman Air Force Base, and Honeywell’s Kansas City National Security Campus.
Senator Marshall highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating, "It is imperative that we get urgent answers to these pressing questions." He also requested a briefing for staff members on the assessment and proposed plan to mitigate any risks posed by CCP-linked companies to American national security.
The Senator's proactive approach underscores the significance of safeguarding American military infrastructure amidst growing concerns about foreign influences. Senator Marshall awaits responses from Secretary Yellen and Secretary Austin, expecting a comprehensive plan to ensure the protection of national security interests.
