Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. has made a strong statement regarding the Articles of Impeachment for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas being transmitted to the U.S. Senate. Senator Marshall expressed his concerns about the current situation at the border and the implications of Secretary Mayorkas' actions.
Senator Marshall criticized Secretary Mayorkas, stating, "With over 11 million illegal border crossings, including nearly 2 million unvetted ‘gotaways’ now living here on U.S. soil, of those terrorists, violent gang members, and drug cartels, DHS Secretary Mayorkas has broken his oath to the American people resulting in this dangerous and deadly invasion of our country."
Furthermore, Senator Marshall emphasized the need for accountability, saying, "Secretary Mayorkas is derelict in his duties, and his actions, or lack thereof, have endangered the safety of every American. There must be accountability."
Expressing his support for the impeachment process, Senator Marshall stated, "I am glad the House of Representatives has sent the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate; now let’s bring this to a trial. Let’s debate his record, hear the arguments on both sides and render a verdict."
Senator Marshall also highlighted the importance of upholding the constitutional duty of the Senate, warning that any deviation from this responsibility by Senate Democrats would have serious consequences, stating, "The Senate has a constitutional duty to hold an impeachment trial; any diversion from this responsibility by Senate Democrats would set a dangerous precedent and undermine the institution, our founding fathers, and the U.S. Constitution."
