U.S. Senator Roger Marshall joined Wake Up America on Newsmax to discuss the recent Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing. The focus of the hearing was on the security failures that occurred on July 13th, which nearly resulted in President Trump's death and led to the fatality of Corey Comperatore, a public servant.

Senator Marshall emphasized the importance of having both the U.S. Secret Service and FBI present at the hearing to prevent them from deflecting questions onto each other. He highlighted a significant trust issue among Americans towards these agencies.

“I think it’s gonna be good to have the Secret Service and the FBI in the same room at the same time, so they don’t deflect the question to each other," Marshall stated. "But the backdrop here, Rob, I just got back from a big weekend back home, is that Americans don’t trust the FBI, and the Secret Service is incompetent.”

Marshall pointed out systemic issues within the Secret Service, noting that 48% of their agents have left over the past year and only about half trust their supervisors. He called for immediate action from President Biden.

“The Secret Service had massive individual failures as well as systemic failures," he said. "This is why I’m calling on two things. Number one, is [that]the President...should appoint some type of a crisis management team to go in and turn [it] upside down right now.”

Marshall questioned what measures are being taken to ensure President Trump's safety during public events.

“And today, what we need to ask is what are they doing to protect President Trump? What are they doing to surge more people...as well as give him drones...to make sure that he’s safe?”

He criticized communication failures within these agencies and urged transparency from ongoing investigations by stating: “They need to look America in the eye...and say...either we’re concerned about there is more to it than just one shooter or there’s not."

Despite his belief that this incident was likely caused by a lone wolf inspired by historical events like JFK's assassination, Marshall stressed that restoring faith in these institutions is crucial for national security.

“When you lose your faith in [these agencies], as American people have,...we’ve lost our faith in [them] as well,” he remarked. “This is why Americans don’t feel safe…We need a strong Commander-in-Chief…to restore democracy,…safety,…security,…law and order.”

Marshall concluded with an urgent call for ensuring President Trump's immediate safety while awaiting further answers: “It’s going to take us weeks and months…but meanwhile, we need to make sure [he]is safe.”
