U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., has requested that Google CEO Sundar Pichai and leaders responsible for the company's algorithms testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC). This request was made in a letter addressed to HSGAC Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI) and Ranking Member Rand Paul (R-KY).
The call for testimony follows what Senator Marshall describes as Google's "continued censorship of conservatives" and their handling of information related to an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. According to Senator Marshall, Google labeled the incident as "hypothetical" for several days after the shooting, which he claims nearly cost President Trump his life.
Senator Marshall recently sent a letter to Google demanding explanations for what he perceives as bias against President Trump. He stated that Google's response to the incident was "completely unacceptable."
