U.S. Senator Roger Marshall recently appeared on Newsmax to discuss the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which mandates proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration. Marshall emphasized the importance of election integrity, noting, "Is there anything more important to the success and vitality of our democracy than election integrity? That’s what the law says. The law says that only citizens can vote, so what would be wrong with proving you’re a citizen when you go register to vote?"
Marshall highlighted that the SAVE Act includes punitive measures for illegal voting and registration. He stated, "It [the SAVE Act] puts some teeth with it, so that there’s actually punishment for this... Much like it’s against a lot of speed, but we need to say, well, what is the speeding limit? And then here’s the punishment for that." He questioned Democratic opposition to these measures: "Nobody can argue that this makes the election less secure... why are Democrats against them?"
In his interview, Marshall also contrasted Vice President Kamala Harris's policies with those of former President Donald Trump. He remarked on Harris's record versus Trump's past performance: "If you watch that debate... which one of those two candidates is going to make my family safe again... bring the price of gas and groceries down?"
Marshall criticized Harris's approach and praised Trump’s efforts: "President Trump has proven he can do it before; Kamala Harris is running from a record... I’m very confident going in; Donald Trump’s going to get out there and fight, fight, fight for us."
He concluded by stressing the need to scrutinize Harris's tenure: "Our job for the next six weeks we got left is we have to expose Kamala Harris exactly for who she is... We’ve lost 300,000 young adults to fentanyl poisoning. They’re responsible for the cost of gas and groceries, of rent, of childcare."
