Washington, D.C. – Following the second assassination attempt against President Donald Trump this weekend in West Palm Beach, Florida, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) led their Senate GOP colleagues in a press conference calling on the Secret Service to provide President Trump the same level of protection and resources afforded to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

This afternoon’s press conference follows Senators Marshall and Tuberville’s letter demanding Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe explain why President Trump’s security detail has not been bolstered following the July 13th assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Highlights from Senator Marshall’s remarks include:

“Last week, President Trump warned us on the debate stage about the hatred and lie being spread by the Left and the mainstream media, making him a target. Now another attempt has been made on his life… What was the media’s response during the debate? They brushed it off.”

“We’re not moving on. The Republicans in the House and Senate are not moving on. We’ll fight until President Trump is protected, and people realize the danger of inciting violence through their rhetoric and their irresponsible reporting.”

“America has become a powder keg of political violence, pushed to the edge by media, Big Tech and inflammatory campaign ads, and we’re now reaping the consequences of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s lawlessness. Their open borders, their cashless bail, their defund-the-police policies and unchecked riots.”

“We are calling for immediate action, and that’s why we sent a letter today to Director Rowe from the Secret Service. Seven members of the Senate have signed that letter. We’re asking him to give Trump the same protection as a sitting president. And I call on all media, especially legacy media and Big Tech, to turn down rhetoric, stop attacking, stop censoring, and report truth.”
