U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., appeared on Fox Business's "Varney & Co." to discuss the necessity of increasing Secret Service protection for President Trump following a second assassination attempt. Additionally, he addressed concerns about Google's alleged censorship of conservative viewpoints.
Since Google reportedly censored search terms related to the assassination attempt on President Trump in July, Senator Marshall has spearheaded an investigation into the tech giant. He has called for Google to testify before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, emphasizing the need for accountability regarding perceived bias and attempts to manipulate public opinion.
During his interview, Senator Marshall commented on Google's actions: “It’s worse than we thought it was. We, certainly for the first several weeks, we saw Google whenever you searched assassination attempt on President Trump, it took you somewhere else.” He also noted discrepancies in viewership between YouTube and its competitor Rumble during a recent press conference by five senators discussing protection for President Trump: “Only 4,000 people watched it on YouTube, but their competitor, Rumble, had over 30,000 people watch it.”
Senator Marshall expressed frustration with Google's responses and emphasized the need for transparency: “We’re going to press Google with this particular topic... We would like for them to come forward and talk about the monopoly that they have and the censorship that they’re continuing against conservative thoughts and against President Trump.”
On the subject of increased Secret Service protection for President Trump, Senator Marshall stated: “We don’t need to wait for a report... They need to triple down on the protection for President Trump.” He highlighted the extensive resources of the Secret Service and suggested a reprioritization: “They need to reprioritize and send more and more of those officers to protect President Trump.”
Marshall underscored Trump's dedication and visibility: “He works 16, 18 hours a day. He’s out there with the people... but he needs to be afforded the protection.” He concluded by suggesting that presidential intervention could resolve this issue swiftly: “President Biden can say he needs the same protection that Joe Biden is getting, and it’s done.”
