U.S. Senator Roger Marshall has joined a group of lawmakers, led by Senator Bill Hagerty and Representative Andy Biggs, in addressing U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the Department of Justice's handling of cases involving illegal aliens registering to vote in American elections. The lawmakers expressed concern over reports of non-citizens participating in federal elections and criticized the DOJ for its lack of response to an inquiry sent on July 12, 2024.

"We are deeply concerned by reports of non-citizens registering to vote and voting in federal elections," the letter stated. It highlighted that with the presidential election approaching, the DOJ's silence is troubling. "Given that the 2024 Presidential Election is in less than 34 days, your Department’s inaction and refusal to provide any information regarding its efforts to promote public trust and confidence in our elections is especially alarming."

State officials have been actively working to address this issue, with measures being taken in states such as South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee. Recent cases have also been reported in Virginia and Texas.

The letter further emphasized the potential impact on election integrity: "Clearly, there is a non-negligible amount of voter participation by non-citizens in federal elections, which is not only a serious threat to the integrity of our elections and the democratic process they represent but also has the potential to reduce Americans’ trust and confidence in election results."

A significant number of lawmakers co-signed this letter, including Senators Tommy Tuberville, Marsha Blackburn, Thom Tillis, Rick Scott, James Lankford, Jim Risch, Ron Johnson, Kevin Cramer, Mike Crapo, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Josh Hawley, Steve Daines, Cynthia Lummis, Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, John Thune, Shelley Moore Capito, Ted Cruz, Eric Schmitt, John Barrasso, Pete Ricketts, Katie Britt; Deb Fischer; Mike Rounds; Mike Braun; Ted Budd; John Hoeven; Joni Ernst; John Kennedy; Roger Wicker; Markwayne Mullin along with Representatives Andy Harris; Clay Higgins; Gary Palmer; Matt Rosendale; Ralph Norman; Eli Crane; Andy Ogles; Aaron Bean; Josh Brecheen; Nancy Mace; Bob Good; Eric Burlison; Mike Ezell; Chuck Fleischmann; Tom Tiffany; Lauren Boebert; Claudia Tenney; Michael Guest; Diana Harshbarger Ben Cline Chip Roy Barry Loudermilk Mary Miller Paul Gosar Lance Gooden Jeff Duncan Harriet Hageman Barry Moore Mike Collins Tim Burchett Greg Lopez Keith Self Brian Babin August Pfluger Alex Mooney Dusty Johnson Randy Weber Rich McCormick Matt Gaetz.
