U.S. Senator Roger Marshall appeared on Fox Business' Varney & Co. to discuss the ongoing migrant surge at the southern border and his recent op-ed, "Farmers and Ranchers Turn to Trump to Deliver." During the interview, he compared President Trump's Farmers First agenda with what he described as the Biden-Harris administration's anti-agriculture policies.
Senator Marshall attributed the current increase in migration at the border to attempts by migrants to enter before a potential Trump presidency. He stated, "That’s why we’re seeing a massive increase of people headed to the border right now trying to beat President Trump. Look, we have two administrations here. President Trump secured the border, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris made the situation worse."
Marshall expressed concerns about safety in Kansas due to drug-related issues, noting that "over 90% of Kansans don’t feel safe in their own homes right now," and highlighted fentanyl poisoning as a significant problem leading to numerous deaths.
Regarding support for rural America under Trump's leadership, Marshall argued that farmers would benefit from increased trade markets and reduced regulations. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration for contributing to a decline in net farm income through increased regulations and rising costs.
Marshall praised Trump's achievements in securing trade agreements like USMCA and deals with Japan and South Korea, which he claims have bolstered American agriculture exports. "We’ve increased dairy exports from $6 billion to $9 billion thanks to President Trump’s trade agreements," he said.
In contrast, Marshall pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris had not secured any new trade agreements during her tenure.
