U.S. Senator Roger Marshall recently appeared on Market Day Report on RFDTV to discuss the 45Z Biofuel Tax Credit, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing American agriculture. In his interview, Senator Marshall expressed concerns about foreign manipulation of the tax credit system.
"I think that when they write the rules for this, there’s some big glitches," said Marshall. "What I know is I don’t like China benefiting from it, which is what they’re doing right now. They’re manipulating the system."
He criticized China's current practices involving cooking oil and palm oil, stating that such actions are unfairly allowing them to benefit from U.S. tax credits. "That’s why we need a president that understands agriculture," he added, referencing a recent discussion with former President Trump about ensuring these credits support American farmers exclusively.
Marshall also voiced his dissatisfaction with how the Biden-Harris administration is handling these issues, contrasting it with Trump's previous policies on E15 fuel: "President Trump was the first person back in 2016 who embraced E15 and then gave us year-round E15 when he was president."
Regarding future initiatives like the Farmer First Fuel Incentives Act, Marshall highlighted ongoing projects in Kansas aimed at converting corn stock into jet fuel in collaboration with Southwest Airlines. He stressed the necessity for consistent regulations to maintain such innovations: "We need consistent rules... but we need to put American farmers and ranchers first."
The senator's remarks underscore his commitment to ensuring that biofuel incentives primarily benefit domestic agriculture rather than international entities.
