U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, Mike Lee, and Tommy Tuberville have addressed a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, holding him responsible for an increase in tuberculosis (TB) cases in the United States. The senators attribute this surge to what they describe as inadequate enforcement of border laws under the Biden-Harris administration.

Senator Marshall expressed concern over public health risks linked to border security policies. "When Secretary Mayorkas became the Homeland Security Secretary, he solemnly vowed to protect the United States. He has failed," said Sen. Marshall. He emphasized that millions of illegal aliens crossing the southern border are spreading not only crime but also diseases like tuberculosis.

Senator Lee criticized the current administration's handling of the southern border, stating, "The Biden-Harris administration’s destruction of America’s southern border has resulted in violent crime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and now a surge in a disease that was declining for nearly three decades before they took power."

Senator Tuberville highlighted specific incidents involving American citizens affected by crimes committed by illegal immigrants and pointed out a rise in TB cases. "For the past 4 years, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have willfully opened our borders," he said. He cited a 16% increase in TB cases between 2022 and 2023 and urged immediate action from Secretary Mayorkas along with President Biden and Vice President Harris.

The senators call for urgent measures to secure the U.S.-Mexico border to safeguard American lives.
