U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., appeared on Fox & Friends to discuss the formation of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Caucus. This initiative aims to address issues such as nutrition, access to affordable high-quality foods, and chronic diseases. The caucus will work in partnership with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Health & Human Services.
Senator Marshall, a seasoned physician with over 25 years of experience, met with Kennedy earlier this week and expressed his support for Kennedy's nomination following their meeting.
During the interview, Senator Marshall shared insights into the goals of the MAHA Caucus: “My grandma always said that if you have your health, you have everything – and right now, America does not have their health." He highlighted alarming statistics about American health: "60% of Americans have a chronic disease, 20% of our kids are on some type of medication."
Marshall emphasized the importance of addressing these issues through dietary changes: “Let’s Make America Healthy Again – and I think that starts with food as medicine." He pointed out uncertainties regarding the causes of chronic diseases and called for action: "Is it environmental toxins? Is it because half of our food is from packages...processed? We don’t know if it’s our biome."
The senator also stressed his commitment to improving public health alongside Kennedy: “I want to do the right thing...committed as a physician here for 30 years trying to work on this." He suggested practical steps like reducing salt and sugar in packaged foods without raising prices.
