U.S. Senators Roger Marshall and John Hoeven have introduced a Congressional Review Act resolution aimed at blocking the Biden Administration's Natural Gas Tax. This tax was part of legislation passed in 2022, which the senators describe as "reckless." Congressman August Pfluger has presented a similar measure in the House of Representatives.
Senator Marshall criticized the current administration's policies, stating, "Joe Biden and Democrats war against American energy producers is raising families’ energy bills and killing good paying jobs." He expressed optimism about future changes, saying, "When President Trump returns to Washington, we will unleash American energy."
Senator Hoeven emphasized the importance of affordable energy for households and businesses. He stated that increasing supply is key to reducing prices and advocated for rescinding policies like the Natural Gas Tax. "Doing so will help unleash our domestic energy production," he said.
Representative Pfluger also voiced concerns about the impact of President Biden’s stance on fossil fuels on his district's energy producers. He argued that the natural gas tax would hinder innovation and increase costs and emissions. "I am proud to lead this CRA to rescind implementation of the natural gas tax," he stated.
The bill has garnered support from several other Republican senators including Shelley Moore Capito, Mike Lee, James Lankford, Katie Britt, Steve Daines, Kevin Cramer, Cynthia Lummis, James Risch, and Rick Scott. Congressman Jodey Arrington supports it in the House.
