On Monday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas appeared on Newsmax's Wake Up America with hosts Marc Lotter and Sharla McBride. The discussion covered the first six months of President Trump's second term, upcoming spending cuts in Congress, a report by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and the MAHA legislative package.
Regarding President Trump's term, Senator Marshall remarked: “Exactly. I told my wife this morning, you know, we’re part of the Trump chain gang. Let’s get to work up here. Congress doesn’t have any idea what it’s like out in the real world, where, as a physician, I worked every weekend. I didn’t take days off for years at a time. So, I’m used to this pace. I’m used to Trump Time." He described the economy as the "Lazarus Economy," highlighting investments and job growth alongside reduced inflation and gas prices.
Discussing future spending cuts from the Senate, Marshall emphasized prioritization: “Well, we certainly need to prioritize them, and Congress needs to develop this memory. This is the first time… since President Bush, the first, we’ve actually done a rescissions package.” He expressed concerns about national debt and systemic issues within USAID programs.
On DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s report about Russian misinformation during Obama's administration: “Well, look, this is absolutely believable. This is new information that in the Oval Office... they cooked up a plan to continue this ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ hoax.”
Finally, discussing the Make America Healthy Again package: “Well, look, what I believe is that healthy soil meets healthy food meets healthy people.” He outlined an approach focusing on agriculture practices leading to healthier food and addressing chronic diseases.
