The City of Edgerton is getting prepared for our newest community event, a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned barbeque competition called Meat Inferno! It will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 7-8 in Downtown Edgerton.
Join us Friday, October 7 for live music, fire performers, a FREE kids barbeque competition with a top prize of $100, and food trucks. Unfortunately, the public cannot enjoy the competition barbeque, but there will be several food trucks to tempt your tastebuds, specifically Smoky Hill Catering, Flatlanders Pizza, and Waffoozles for dessert. On Saturday, October 8, bring your grill to the greenspace for the backyard barbeque competition with a top prize of $300, and a fire and ice show for the kids! Go to meatinferno.com to sign up or get more information.
For safety during the event, the City will close several streets and/or restrict parking around downtown.
The parking restrictions begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 and will last until Saturday, October 8 at 6 p.m. Please obey the no parking signs and do not park in restricted areas during this time or your vehicle may be towed.
On Friday, October 7 at 8:00 a.m., Nelson Street will be closed between E. 5th Street and E. 3rd Street. East 4th Street will also be closed between 56 Highway and the alley behind the Library. There will be no access to 4th Street from McCarty, Hulett or 56 Highway during the event. All roads will be reopened after the event, no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.
If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 913-893-6231. Find out more about the event or register to compete in one of the competitions by going to meatinferno.com.
