Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. released a statement explaining his decision to vote against a massive minibus bill that would further increase the national debt crisis in the United States. In his statement, Senator Marshall expressed his deep concerns about the implications of the $1.2 trillion spending bill.
"I cannot, in good faith, support this $1.2 trillion spending bill, which embodies the toxic status quo in Washington D.C. that has pushed our nation into a historic national debt crisis," Senator Marshall stated. He highlighted the broken budget process and the lack of consideration for future generations as major reasons for his dissent.
Senator Marshall emphasized the contrast between the responsible budget management of small businesses and families with the current approach in Washington, stating, "Each month small businesses and hardworking families across the country come to the table and responsibly manage their budget to make ends meet." He criticized the way the government operates, comparing it unfavorably to how businesses are run in America.
The Senator also outlined his commitment to improving the funding process to ensure transparency and accountability, saying, "I am laser-focused on upending this process to ensure that government funding deadlines are met on time and in broad daylight for the American people to see."
The minibus bill, which Senator Marshall voted against, included provisions that he deemed problematic, such as taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgeries, green new deal climate initiatives, and a lack of funding for the border wall and addressing national security threats.
Senator Marshall's decision to oppose the bill reflects his dedication to addressing the national debt crisis and advocating for more responsible budgeting practices in the nation's capital.
