U.S. Senator Roger Marshall appeared on Fox's "America’s Newsroom" to discuss a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee report on the security lapses during an assassination attempt on President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. The report highlights significant issues within the Secret Service.

Senator Marshall has been vocal about the need for immediate reforms within the Secret Service and has advocated for increased security resources for President Trump.

In his interview, Senator Marshall criticized the Secret Service's handling of the situation: “Two minutes before shots were fired, the Secret Service knew there was a man on the roof... they left the President out there exposed before those shots were fired.” He further questioned why no action was taken to remove President Trump from the stage despite knowing about a suspicious character with a range binder.

Marshall pointed out several flaws revealed by the report: “What this report reveals is... there’s a lack of a chain of command. They had a horrible plan. It was executed even worse, and communications were siloed.”

Discussing specific threats that day, he mentioned: “There was absolutely a credible threat that day... The Trump team, the Secret Service, knew of a very credible threat to President Trump.”

He also emphasized that no one within the Secret Service is accepting responsibility for these failures: “The Secret Service failed. No one is accepting responsibility… And that’s why we need to turn this place upside down.”

Regarding whistleblower claims about internal issues within the agency, Marshall said: “It is so broken. We need someone like Mike Pompeo to step in there and take over and get President Trump the protection he needs.”

Marshall concluded by stressing broader implications for national security: “Americans are out there thinking if we cannot protect our leaders, can they protect us? So, we need to give all necessary resources to protect President Trump.”
