U.S. Senator Roger Marshall appeared on Fox Business's "The Evening Edit" to discuss the recent security failures of the Secret Service, particularly regarding the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, PA. This follows a report from the Senate Homeland Security Committee detailing significant operational breakdowns.

Senator Marshall has been vocal about the need for comprehensive reforms within the Secret Service. During his appearance, he emphasized a lack of accountability and leadership within the agency.

"It's over two months now, David, I believe, and there’s been no personal responsibility taken on the part of the Secret Service," Marshall stated. "This is a clear demonstration of a lack of leadership, a broken chain of command, multiple failures on multiple levels. They had a poor plan; it was implemented even worse."

He further criticized the agency's performance: "Without any doubt, the Secret Service failed us that day. All these hearings, these testimonies just confirm what I thought immediately after. We need a crisis intervention team to step in and take over the Secret Service…they lost over half of their agents in a year’s time. There’s something wrong in the Secret Service. It’s a cultural rot."

Marshall also highlighted broader issues within management: "The culture there is horrible. In my experience in the real world, when there’s a situation like this, you fire all the management and you have to start over."

Finally, he pointed out systemic problems affecting both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its leadership: "There is a problem where the Secret Service is. I think that their mission and DHS doesn’t mesh. And of course, we have a secretary of DHS which is incompetent as well, so multiple problems at multiple levels. That starts in the White House; it goes to your secretary; and here we have the director of the Secret Service just struggling as well. They all need to go. We need to start over."
