U.S. Senator Roger Marshall has introduced the Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors Act, a new legislative measure aimed at prohibiting certain transgender procedures for minors. The legislation seeks to impose financial penalties on physicians who perform these procedures.

Senator Marshall stated, "Americans resoundingly rejected the Left’s dangerous transgender agenda. Let’s call it exactly what it is: child abuse." He further emphasized that the bill aims to prevent "demented doctors and activists" from profiting off such procedures, which he described as harmful to children.

The proposed legislation would prohibit anyone from performing or facilitating irreversible therapies and procedures on minors. Senator Marshall remarked, "This bill is just the beginning of what’s to come with President Trump at the helm and our unwavering commitment to protecting children from transgender activists’ twisted and criminal agenda."

The Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors Act forms part of Senator Marshall's broader efforts against what he describes as a "transgender industrial complex." This includes his recent introduction of the Defining Male and Female Act, intended to establish legal definitions of sex based on biological facts.

In November 2024, Senator Marshall organized a coalition event addressing concerns about gender ideology's impact on children, where solutions like this new act were discussed.
