U.S. Representative Sharice Davids, who represents Kansas’ 3rd district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight concerns about the potential expiration of ACA premium tax credits and the ongoing government shutdown’s impact on rural Kansans.
On October 4, 2025, Davids warned about rising health care costs if Congress does not act: "If Congress fails to act, ACA premium tax credits will expire — and Kansans’ health care premiums will skyrocket. Dawn told me that without the ACA, she couldn’t afford her home. That’s what’s at stake. I’m fighting to make these savings permanent."
The following day, she reiterated her commitment to affordable health care for all Kansans: "Amy is right. I'm working to ensure all Kansans continue to have access to quality, affordable health care — now and in the future." (October 5, 2025).
Later on October 5, Davids addressed the effects of a government shutdown on rural communities: "Rural Kansas can’t afford this shutdown. Farmers can’t access USDA loans, ranchers can’t get disaster assistance, and critical ag data is delayed. On top of reckless tariffs & trade wars, it’s devastating. We need bipartisan action to reopen the government."
Sharice Davids has served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019 after replacing Kevin Yoder as representative for Kansas's 3rd District. She was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1980 and currently resides in Roeland Park at age 42. Davids holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2007) and a JD from Cornell University (2010).
