U.S. Senator Roger Marshall met with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Following their meeting, Senator Marshall released a statement regarding Governor Noem's nomination and her potential impact on national security.
"Governor Kristi Noem will have an integral role as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in restoring law and order at our borders and protecting our homeland," stated Senator Marshall. He expressed confidence in both President Trump and Governor Noem's ability to "secure our borders, stop the free flow of fentanyl, fight back against the criminal cartels, and reverse the damage the Democrats’ open borders agenda has caused to our country."
Senator Marshall acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead for Governor Noem but conveyed his belief in her capabilities. "While she has her work cut out for her, I know that Gov. Noem is a fighter and will be a great leader at the DHS," he added.
The nomination comes at a time when border security remains a contentious issue within U.S. politics.
