U.S. Senator Roger Marshall has announced his committee assignments for the 119th Congress. He will continue to serve on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP), and the Senate Budget Committee. In addition to these roles, he will join the Senate Finance Committee.
Senator Marshall emphasized his commitment to addressing key issues such as cost of living, safety and security, and restoring the American dream. "The American people spoke loud and clear about their top priorities: cost of living, safety, and security, and restoring the American dream," he stated. He also expressed enthusiasm for working with the Trump Administration to fulfill these objectives.
Marshall highlighted specific goals for each committee assignment. On the Agriculture Committee, he aims to deliver a "Farmers First Farm Bill" to support Kansas producers. Within the HELP Committee, he plans to tackle challenges related to healthcare costs and access. The Budget Committee role will focus on addressing national debt concerns.
Regarding his new position on the Finance Committee, Marshall said: "I am proud to have a seat at the table as we extend President Trump’s successful Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and ensure free and fair-trade agreements."
U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo welcomed Senator Marshall's appointment by noting his valuable experience in expanding access to affordable healthcare and promoting pro-growth tax policy. "Roger brings a wealth of necessary experience...He will provide Kansans with an important voice as the Committee develops policies," said Crapo.
The Finance Committee oversees more than half of the nation's budget including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, tax policy, international trade programs, welfare programs, and national debt management.
