U.S. Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas has aligned with Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama to reintroduce the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, known as S. 9. This legislation aims to uphold Title IX protections for female athletes by reversing a rule from the Department of Education under the Biden Administration. The current rule mandates schools to allow males in private spaces designated for females and permits them to compete in women's sports, with non-compliance risking loss of funding.

Senator Marshall expressed his concerns about men competing in women's sports, stating it is "unsafe, unfair, and just plain wrong." He criticized what he described as a "dangerous transgender agenda" that prioritizes activism over the safety of girls. Marshall voiced his commitment to safeguarding opportunities created by Title IX alongside Senator Tuberville.

Senator Tuberville remarked on former President Trump's stance on protecting women's sports and noted public support against men participating in women's sports or using their locker rooms. He emphasized that while the Biden administration rescinded a proposed rule, legislative action is necessary to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Tuberville expressed personal motivation due to his upcoming role as a grandfather.

The bill has received endorsements from several organizations including Independent Women’s Voice, Concerned Women for America, Heritage Action for America, and Family Policy Alliance.

Senator Marshall's background includes advocacy for Title IX protections through various initiatives such as urging policy updates at NCAA regarding student-athlete participation based on biological sex. Additionally, he introduced another bill aimed at defining male and female based on biology rather than ideology.
