U.S. Senators Roger Marshall and John Barrasso have reintroduced the Build the Wall Act, which proposes using unobligated COVID-19 funds to complete the construction of the border wall along the southern U.S. border. The legislation aims to create a "Southern Border Wall Construction Fund" that would direct the Department of Homeland Security to allocate any remaining Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds for building and maintaining physical barriers.
Senator Marshall expressed his support for utilizing these unused funds, stating, "It’s past time that we finish building the border wall, and what better way to do it than with the unused COVID-19 slush fund to help President Trump seal the border? I’m proud to join my colleagues in introducing the Build The Wall Act and fight alongside the Trump Administration to secure our southern border."
The bill is co-sponsored by Senators Cynthia Lummis, Jim Risch, and James Lankford. Further details on the legislation are available for public access.
