U.S. Senator Roger Marshall appeared on Fox & Friends to discuss the upcoming Senate Finance Committee hearing for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., nominated by President Trump to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). As founder of the Make America Healthy Again Caucus, Senator Marshall emphasized Kennedy's plans to tackle chronic disease in the United States by improving access to fresh foods and promoting transparency in medical and nutritional information.
Senator Marshall also commented on President Trump's recent executive order requiring federal employees to return to office work, ending remote work arrangements.
In his interview, Senator Marshall highlighted key issues regarding Kennedy's confirmation:
"What I need are those moms to call their Senators and support Bobby’s nomination," he said. "Look, if you agree with Bobby Kennedy that America is not very healthy right now, that 40% of Americans have a chronic disease. Our children, 20% of them are on some type of prescription drug. There’s a mental health explosion in our young children."
He also addressed concerns about outdated nutritional standards: "On these food additives – I sat down with the FDA Food Czar two years ago, raised these same questions... The problem is they’re relying on data from 40 or 50 years ago."
Senator Marshall expressed confidence in working with Kennedy and others like Dr. Oz to make nutritious foods more accessible: "[RFK Jr.] is right. 70% of our calories are coming from processed foods... So Bobby and I will work together...to help make those nutritious foods more affordable and more available."
Regarding the mandate for federal employees' return to office, he stated: "Only 6% of federal employees are in the office – only 6%. Second data point I would give you is under Joe Biden, he added 128,000 employees... So we need those people to come back to do their job, to be accountable."
